Expanding Our Global Footprint

Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the global interconnection and data center company, completed the acquisition of 29 data centers and their operations from Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) earlier this year. The U.S. $3.6 billion all cash transaction increased Equinix’s global footprint to 175 data centers in 44 key global markets, accelerating Equinix's ability to help companies extend their IT operations to the digital edge through the interconnection of people, locations, clouds and data.

As part of this transaction, Equinix acquired The NAP of the Americas "NOTA" MI1 facility in Miami which will serve as a key interconnection point and as a strategic hub for Equinix customer deployments servicing Latin America. As the fourth largest Internet exchange point in the U.S., MI1 hosts the termination points of 15 subsea cable systems and more than 120 global networks interconnecting to approximately 150 countries. Combined with the newly acquired data centers in Bogotá and São Paulo, and substantial existing presence in Brazil, MI1 will strategically position Equinix in the growing Latin American market.

Gateway to the Americas

Located in Downtown Miami, MI1 is a network-rich site, allowing easy connectivity to key carriers such as AT&T, CenturyLink, and Verizon.

MI1 provides a pathway or data traffic from the Caribbean and South and Central America to approximately 150 countries worldwide, making this IBX the gateway to the Americas.
